The Last Jaguar XJ
Today, an all-new Jaguar XJ was introduced, and you may want to head over to some other websites to check out all the details, press release and all fancy photos. However, here you will find something different, a look at one of the last of the X358 generation XJ’s in all its beauty. I was saving these pictures for future use, but since I am on the Jaguar theme here, why not continue it for little longer.
Some have called the 2002-2009 XJ “old fashinoed”, they said it was lacking all the modern design details, but to me, that is how it was suppse to be. It was not trying to pretent to be an Audi, it did not try to compete with the Merceds, it was being itself, a vehicle representing true British luxury and beauty.
Imagine someone who knows very little about cars, say your mother-in-law, and put that person in front of the following: BMW 7, Mercedes S, the XJ, Audi A8, Lexus LS, and just for the heck of it some big Infini Du Jour, and, what a heck, a $30,000 Hyundai. To make things interesting, remove the badges and the grills and other identifing elements - which vehicle would be most recognizable to that person?
I must admit, as beautiful as I think this XJ is, I will very sadly never own one. Quick search on the internet will reveal ownership nightmare stories of these cars. It’s no surprise really, but then again no one ever bought a Jaguar because they thought that the Accord was too flashy. Jaguars are not purchased out of need, they are purchased out of desire and as long as the new XJ carries forth that legacy (less the reputation), you can expect the brand to keep making these beautiful cars for many more years.

An Audi grill (even with a bumper in the middle) just doesn’t cut it on a Jag
You know, now that you mention I see the Audi (ugh) resemblance, but I still think it’s a damn pretty car… and I’m not often opinionated on looks.
Actually more than one quality study has shown that the XJ8 is the most reliable car in its class (bar the LS460 which is completely passionless). I bought one instead of an A8, 7 Series and MB S Class for that reason. Go ahead and listen to that little voice.
