Driving Jaguar’s new XFR, on the Road and on the Track

Turner Motorsport, a well-known BMW tuner (they actually develop and manufacture their own parts, unlike certain others that just slap their stickers on and jack up the price), are again bringing their best in form of an M3 Coupe.

Below is a time-lapse video showing the five-week long build process of the number 94 car. Follow it carefully and you’ll be able to make your own race car right in your garage. Also, read up on Grand-Am facts and find out about race coverage.

London Sculpture Takes You Back to Childhood

4573 400x400 vroom vroom lorenzo quinn London Sculpture Takes You Back to Childhood

This is a sculpture entitled Vroom Vroom, by Lorenzo Quinn, son of the late actor Anthony Quinn. It portrays what most carguys’ childhood was; pushing around little toy cars while making engine sounds. To me it captures the moment perfectly.

To Lorenzo the sculpture represents independence, freedom and growth, much of which is associated to the fact that a similar Fiat 500 was his first car. Since most of us couldn’t wait to get our driver’s license and our first car, we too can relate to this. Bonus points if you, actually worked and paid for your first car yourself. And then fixed over and over again. And modified and improved it. Respect if you are still doing it.

The twelve-foot sculpture is currently on display in London’s Park Lane as part of the City of Sculpture Festival. Click below for more pictures. … Continue Reading

Unlike its name suggests, for the past two years the race has been held in South America in fears of a terrorist attack in the Middle East. That did not seemed to have much impact at all on the race, its participants and the the overall feel of it – it is still the most exciting motorsport race on earth.

I don’t even know where the awesomeness of this begins. VW Bug morphed with a VW Bus to form a shooting-brake kind of a vehicle, powered by a rear-mounted Subaru engine. And it doesn’t end there!

The hilarious result is below, and remember, don’t drink and drive, errr… a SkyJack.

Every January the North American International Auto Show (which is it, North American or International?) comes to Detroit and like every January we are NOT there to bring you the latest news, pictures and stories. However, that is not stopping us from doing our journalistic duties – that’s what press releases are for. Sadly, we won’t be just coping and pasting them because no one would read them anyway.

Instead you get a quick description, a picture, and some opinion. No concepts, no BS, just new production stuff and info, off we go…

BMW gets stuck on ice, pulls a Ferrari

January 11, 2011 News 11 Comments

4424 320x240 e39onfiredumbass BMW gets stuck on ice, pulls a Ferrari As the Southeast struggles to move around in this latest round of winter weather, perhaps nobody is struggling as much as this guy is. This man was driving his ’99 BMW 5-Series through Marietta, GA he came up to a bit of an incline where he began to lose traction on ice. At that time he did what every idiot would do and decided to just floor it, hoping that he could magically fight off the laws of physics, or perhaps melt the ice with his spinning tire? I don’t know. … Continue Reading

4417 640x400 highway at night Wish List for 2011 and Beyond

We would like to believe that each year brings changes to our lives. Despite the fact that most resolutions and promises get dropped when real life takes over few weeks after the winter holiday break, I would like to propose several minor changes to the automotive world. Like the pledge of eating healthy and working-out, none of this is new or revolutionary – it is just a wish list of things that are easy to implement and would make everyone’s life a little easier. … Continue Reading

4387 320x240 automatic tire chains onspot 3 Automatic Tire Chains I have seen and heard them on fire trucks and ambulances but never knew what they were for – the chains hanging off the rear axle. Modern Classic: Saab 900 SPG

4374 350x350 saab 900 spg 1 Modern Classic: Saab 900 SPG

Love them or hate them, Saab has been producing Scandinavian turbo sedans, coupes, and convertibles for their loyal niche market since 1978.  As the new year begins, car enthusiasts should take a look back 25 years into automotive history to the year 1985.  This marked the first year the Saab 900 SPG was imported into North America.

The 2- and 4-door Saab 900 hatchbacks were built from 1978 until 1993.  With 908,817 built during a decade and a half, the Saab 900 has become an iconic vehicle.  But there is one Saab 900 that stood out from the pack, despite its subtle differences.  With only 7,600 2-door hatchbacks and convertibles trickled into the USA from 1985- 1991 it is no surprise that the Saab 900 SPG blended in so well with the rest of the 900s.
