4341 660x372 01 1 Weekend Driver: Porsche 944

Back in the summer of 2009, I set out to find a great second driver for less than $3000. The goal was to fix ‘er up and sell ‘er on for a profit. People warned me that I’d be throwing money out the window but I’m stubborn so I found out the hard way.

I was looking for something fun, sporty, and older since I had a small budget. I checked out lots of clunkers including some Alfa Romeo Spyders, BMW 635CSi’s, and Porsche naturally aspirated 944′s among lots of other cars. … Continue Reading

This is the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302S. Ford unveiled the car at Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show in Orlando, where CarGuyDad friend, sometimes contributor, friend of Bill Bacon, and an all-around nice guy, Baer Connard was. Baer snapped some pictures at the show and I do believe that outside of the two photos supplied with the press release, these are the first live shots of the car. Enjoy. … Continue Reading

Midlife crisis – a term coined in 1965 by Elliott Jaques to describe a period of dramatic self-doubt that is felt by some individuals in the middle years of life, as a result of sensing the passing of their own youth and imminence of their old age. (Wikipedia)

But, it can’t be!  I’m far too young to have a midlife crisis.  And, besides, this was not a rash decision.  I have been slowly working towards this goal for close to five years, now.  So, let’s call it a 1/3 life crisis.  That may be presumptuous, claiming that I will live to the ripe old age of 117, but no matter how you add it up, I ain’t getting any younger, so it’s time to just do it.

And, what is it, you may ask?  Why, it’s my very own racecar!  Well, race car in a box might be a better way to say it.  I had purchased a V8 Mercedes to run on the track for NASA HPDE 1 in the summer of 2011. However, as I gradually massaged the car into shape, two big problems began to rear their ugly heads:  … Continue Reading

Auto Show Season is underway and while Boston is not on the major auto show circuit such as New York or Los Angeles, it was still fun to attend. There were no major unvailings, no scantily-dressed models, and no concept cars. There was however a ton of cars that anyone can buy, some upcoming models, and a some interesting people. I did not have a chance to see everything at the show, but here are some highlights of what I did get to see. … Continue Reading

Hoboken is home to Frank Sinatra and now guess who?

Hint the Bentley has “ABS” 4257 400x440 situation bentley hoboken Hoboken is home to Frank Sinatra and now guess who?

That’s right, The Situation has officially moved into Hoboken. Say what you want about the Jersey Shore cast but the fact is that they’re on TV and they’re making money and you’re not. You also probably don’t drive a Bentley.

Mike Sorrentino, a.k.a. The Situation, was recently on the Howard Stern radio show and… he came off pretty well, much of which can be attributed to Howard’s interview skills.  Search youtube for the interview.

Yes, the Bentley has tinted windows and taillights and is sporting a set of pimpy wheels.

Gran Turismo 5 – Full Review

November 30, 2010 Product Reviews 3 Comments

4251 650x300 mainmenu Gran Turismo 5 Full Review After nearly 6 years of development and roughly 2 years of maddening delays, Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 finally hit stores on November 24. Since 1997 Gran Turismo has claimed to be the “Real Driving Simulator” offering an impressive selection of cars and real-world race tracks. With creator Kazunori Yamauchi treating each game as his brain child while leading the development team, they’ve made Gran Turismo one of the most successful and valuable gaming franchises on earth. After GT5’s long-awaited release I spent more time than I should have playing the elusive creation, and I loved every minute of it.  … Continue Reading

Don’t expect to see anything remotely meaningful on this website anytime soon. Myself and at least two other contributors picked up a copy of GT5 before the Thanksgiving weekend and everything else has become irrelevant. However, expect multiple reviews and updates of our gaming status.

Some clarification; I don’t play videogames, never did, but the Gran Turismo series is an exception to the rule. I’ve owned everyone of the games and I still clearly remember being at my friend Vince’s house when we first removed the cellophane from the original Gran Tourismo. The game was everything we have always wanted in a car game. We played it until 9am the next morning. Since then we repeated our all-nighters every time a new version came out. Until now, because Vince lives 1000 miles away. … Continue Reading

In December of 2009 New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission issued an Request For Proposal for the next generation of NYC Taxi cabs. Recently, three finalists were selected: Ford Transit Connect, Nissan Minivan, and a Turkish Karsan Taxi. The first one is a solid choice, the second is an obscure JDM minivan, and it is anyone’s guess what the Karsan is.

Clearly, there is serious room for improvement. … Continue Reading
