Jeeping 101 (MEGA GALLERY)
At some point everyone wanted one. If you happened to own one, chances are good that you really did not use it to its full potential. That whole Jeep thing; some say you won’t understand, I say you just may.
Recently a friend of mine invited me for a ride-along with his Jeep club, Bay State Jeepers. The club is a family oriented Jeep-only club (sorry FJ Cruiser owners); it focuses on near-stock to slightly modified street-legal Jeeps and practices Tread Lightly principles. Enjoy the pictures.
Now, this was not your everyday “hey let’s get coffee and shoot the shit” type of a thing but a real club-organized off-road trail run. Since I’m really short on time this week, let’s make this a photo-journalistic approach to off-roading, and in future articles I’ll go into detail about the following:
- building (real Jeep are built, not bought) a basic trail-worthy TJ Wrangler,
- various building options,
- the basics of off-roading and general common sense principles.
- compromises
- Off-roading and kids
- I’ll also be tackling the often-not-discussed issue of destination versus just getting there.
Regarding the pics:
- I tried to remove the people and focus on the Jeeps. I also covered up the license plates to give everyone that nice, warm feeling inside.
- If you see yourself or your Jeep and would like to be removed for whatever reason, please contact me.
