German Car Day
Another Lawn Event at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Boston. This time however the weather did not co-operate as well as it did during the British Car Day and the turnout was a lot smaller, and that was just the beginning of our “problems”.
My buddy Steve and I showed up a little late, due to it being Father’s Day and all. We were charged $20 ($10 each) to enter the event and the museum and we quickly realized that could have entered the car for $20 and be eligible for prizes. Oh well, whatever. As we make our way to the lawn we can’t help but overhear the show announcer on the megaphone “Thank you all for coming, congratulations to all the winners, it was a great event and we’ll see you all next year!!” Sonofa…
I have still managed to get a few wet shots. Porsche was the most represented with a set of three mint 912s, and a number of other 911 including one serious looking track car and a sinister looking black 911 with black HRE rims. Few of those VW/Porsche hybrid things were also thrown in the mix.
Audis also showed up in a large number and the two most noticeable were the R8 and an older convertible, which I am sorry to say, I have no clue what model it is. There were a few A4s and S4s, and one very cool Avant.
The other Stuttgart brand, Mercedes, had a few cars, including my favorite, the 190 2.3 16-valve, and this one was mint and had a manual transmission too. What enthusiast would not want to travel back to 1988 and cross shop that against an E30 M3? I was not able to get a good shot of as it always had crows of people around it.
There were also two Opel GTs and one of a kind (at least in the US) Opel Senator.

The BMW M1 won best of show. You only have one picture of that car?
Sadly yes. I got to the show as it was ending and didn’t have a chance to take as many pictures as I’d like to.
