Three-Wheel Motorcycle Concept

July 20, 2011 Other No Comments

The three-wheel motorcycle concept. Looks cool on video but how would it translate into real life? Now, I don’t ride, and generally don’t know much about motorcycles so I can’t even talk about this inteligently, but I would love to get some feedback, comments, and perhaps questions.

It wasn’t all that long ago that we would look toward the Mercedes-Benz’s S-Class to see the newest in advanced automotive technology, be it drive-train tech, interior appointments, or safety. It seems that Ford is on a path to change that view, and in a pretty big way. For instance, what was once a feature of cars costing multiple-thousands of dollars, self parking systems are now being found on Ford’s third generation Focus, which starts at $16,500.

With its SYNC system, Ford was one of the first to being advanced infotainment technology to affordable cars such as the Fusion. Unfortunately, the current generation of SYNC has been criticized as being too clunky and difficult to operate for new users, to the point where Ford offers new owners instructions on their SYNC systems. To improve this user interface, new voice recognition software is being implemented, among other improvements.

Ford has invited me to the Ford Technology Forum, an event showcasing the improved SYNC system as well as Ford’s future technical goals. The Forum was separated into two entities to allow complete, pardon my pun, focus on each genre separate from the other. The first of the two points was in-car technology, while the second centered on safety of both passive and active nature. … Continue Reading

How to Convert Your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to a Pickup

May 11, 2011 Other 2 Comments

A good friend of mine has a very unique Jeep called CJ-8, or Scrambler. The Scrambler is an extended wheelbase CJ-7 with a pickup-like 2-passenger cab, a bed, and the spare tire mounted on the roll-bar as opposed to the tailgate. Since its takeover from AMC, Chrysler has not done much with the Wrangler configuration, with the exception of the extended wheel-base TJ, known as LJ. It was not until the introduction of the current generation Wrangler, known as JK, that Chrysler started paying special attention it. … Continue Reading

New Way of Buying Cars

March 4, 2011 Other No Comments

4703 320x320 cargurus New Way of Buying Cars When looking to buy just about anything these days, internet is the way to go. Internet is Winning! Internet has only one speed – GO! Except when it comes to shopping for cars… well, in that case the internet is losing. Allow me to explain.

There are about a dozen big car websites that advertise new and used cars. If you are looking for a particular model of a certain era, all you have to do is plug in your data and bam, you get the results. Sort of. You get 400 cars with prices ranging from almost nothing (scam!) to ridiculously high (certified, inspected, loved, with free coffee). And then you have to repeat that same procedure eleven more times and obtain the same results. In addition you still don’t know the going market value is. Well, now there is a better way…

Gran Turismo 5 – Quick Look

4248 320x240 gt5 0 Gran Turismo 5 Quick Look

Don’t expect to see anything remotely meaningful on this website anytime soon. Myself and at least two other contributors picked up a copy of GT5 before the Thanksgiving weekend and everything else has become irrelevant. However, expect multiple reviews and updates of our gaming status.

Some clarification; I don’t play videogames, never did, but the Gran Turismo series is an exception to the rule. I’ve owned everyone of the games and I still clearly remember being at my friend Vince’s house when we first removed the cellophane from the original Gran Tourismo. The game was everything we have always wanted in a car game. We played it until 9am the next morning. Since then we repeated our all-nighters every time a new version came out. Until now, because Vince lives 1000 miles away. … Continue Reading

The New General Motors

1432 660x520 cover custom The New General Motors I have mentioned in my Cadillac SRX and CTS Sport Wagon quick reviews that American automotive companies absolutely need to step up their game as soon as possible in order to survive. Not only do they need to have products that are comparable to the rest of the world, they also need to find a new way of marketing. On August 10th 2009, the new-post-bankruptcy General Motors did just that.
