The team had only a few days to prepare the car in between events and relied on the kindness of a fellow firefighter in Washington, where Bill and his brother Chris were able to do a quick re-prep and safely leave the truck, trailer and rally car in between events.

The Oregon Trail Rally was a diverse array of roads with dry and very dusty conditions.  Driver Bill Bacon and Co-driver Peter Watt enjoyed the technical 2969 360x500 bacon rally race team oregon train 3 Bacon Rally Team Cooks on the Oregon Trail stages on Saturday and thought the Sunday stages that were flat through the prairies were fast and fun.

Friday the rally started at the Portland International raceway in front of 4,000-5,000 fans.  After the four spectator stages on Friday night the Bacon Motorsport team was forth overall, and was preparing to make a push for the podium on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday after the hard, technical, and rough stages didn’t fair well for many teams and a lot of the top running teams lost the battle and were out of the rally due to rollovers, offs, and mechanical issues. 2968 360x400 bacon rally race team oregon train 2 Bacon Rally Team Cooks on the Oregon Trail

The Bacon Motorsport team was sitting in second place overall after the 7 hard, rough stages, and were happy to be where they were positioned going into Sunday.  Especially after the small “off” they had on stage 8 that damaged the car and knocked it out of alignment.  After fixing the issues the best they could the team looked forward to finishing the final stages on Sunday.

The team headed into the fast and fun stages on Sunday trying to keep their second place position. After running the last stages conservatively 2967 360x2400 bacon rally race team oregon train 1 Bacon Rally Team Cooks on the Oregon Trail the team was able to do just that.  Driver Bill Bacon and Co-Driver Peter Watt brought the Bacon Motorsport to and 2nd place overall finish.  The best finish the team has had in the Rally America Series.

The Bacon Motorsport Team is currently in 2nd place in the Rally American Championship and look forward to being back home on the east coast for the Susquehannock Trail Rally in Wellsboro Pennsylvania on June 4th & 5th, 2010.  We hope to see you there!

The Bacon Motorsport team would like to thank Hawk Brakes, Kaps Transmissions, D-Force Wheels and Veloz Media for their products and service support.
