I got my license 10 years ago after taking the Safety Course but never bought a bike. Like Kamil told me before buying a Ducati 848 last year "the time to buy a motorcycle is before the wife and kids come along". I didn't buy the bike and my wife and kids thank him.

Loves me those Confederate bikes though. Absolute art/engineering perfection, and yes, they start around $100k. I asked them via their web page to build a sub $20k 250 for us wanna-be beginners but never got a reply. How cool would that be for commuting and carving up roads.

Funny story about the bike license. Mostly cause mine is almost exactly the same. Was riding unlicensed (as are 30% of riders) for years. Finally decided to take proactive steps to avoid jail time. Read that stupid book and went to sit for the written. At least 1/2 the questions were about alcohol levels and how plastered I could be while riding. Didn't think they's accept my stock answer of "N/A" as I don't drink. Barely passed.

The show was good. Looking at the crowd though, its hard to figure out who's dropping 100k on some of these custom jobs, but I guess that's why we live in a welfare state.
